Taking place on a remote beach along a stretch of shoreline known as the Jurassic Coast, a lonely, unassuming fossil hunter discovers the freshly deceased body of a modern woman encased deep in the heart of a two-hundred-million-year-old ammonite fossil. Strange events begin to unfold immediately after the grisly, impossible discovery.

Told as a spiraling first-person account to a mysterious, unnamed stranger who also finds his way to the beach, the story blurs the lines between reality and fiction, past and present, possible and impossible—leaving us wondering is the truth worth hunting down as diligently as the elusive, perfect ammonite specimen our narrator has sought for so long?
